Harveys Real Estate – High Availability Website

Harvey’s is a successful real estate franchise with more than 50 branches nationwide and a proud history of helping people realize their property dreams.
The Harveys web site was hosting thousands of properties and with the increasing use of the internet by house hunters, a dedicated web server was required. The challenge was to find a cost effective solution that delivered the necessary standards of performance, reliability and scalability. The challenge was met by Maxnet through the provision of a Virtual Private Server.
Harveys virtual server is hosted on Maxnet’s Virtual Private Server cluster running VMware. The virtual infrastructure includes VMware ESX Server which delivers the highest levels of performance, scalability and robustness required for enterprise IT environments.
Harveys growing requirements are managed by a system that monitors usage of disk space, memory, processing power and web services.
The Dell server cluster and virtualization software is housed in the highly redundant environment of Maxnet’s Internet Data Centre. The environment provides N+1 redundancy on UPS, distribution, generators, air conditioning, and connectivity coupled with truly diverse upstream bandwidth providers.

“When we decided to re-launch our website, we needed an ISP that could provide a cost-effective and reliable solution for our increasingly demanding website. We approached Maxnet with our requirements and they exceeded our expectations with a virtual server environment that met all our needs.”

The solution has strong cost benefits for Harveys by removing both the capital costs of purchasing physical server infrastructure and the operating costs of depreciation and technical support. There are no future capital costs as the virtual server is charged as a monthly operating expense.
The solution has strong benefits in reliability as ESX Server delivers the highest possible uptime.

“A business could not achieve the same level of performance and uptime without significant investment hardware, software and expertise. Virtualization is a great way of getting a slice of enterprise technology and an affordable price.”
Derek Gaeth, Technical Manager, Maxnet |
The solution provides Harveys with the benefits of instant scalability as the virtual server RAM, processor, or hard disk storage, can be upgraded at the click of a mouse.
