Configuring Macintosh OS 8.1+ for dialupYou can use the Internet Setup Assistant to setup your Mac to connect to Maxnet. Here is a guide to show you how. Although these instructions are for Mac OS version 9.1 you can follow them if you have Mac OS 8.1 or above. - You can find the Internet Setup Assistant in the Mac Hard Drive icon on your Desktop, in a folder called "Internet".
- Double click on the Internet Setup Assistant icon.
Alternatively, hold down the Apple key and the "F" button at the same time. This opens the "Find Files" window.
- Type in the word "assistant" and click on the "Find" button.
- You'll see a list of matching file types. From the list double click onto "Internet Setup Assistant".
Either way will start the Internet Setup Assistant. Follow the steps below to complete the setup assistant.
Click Yes

Click Yes

Click the right arrow to continue

- Type the name for the connection as Maxnet
- Select Modem as the connection method
- Click the right arrow to continue

- Leave default settings as per screen below
- Click the right arrow to continue

- Type the phone number as 0867 00006
- For the login name type your username ie. bobpond@maxnet
- NOTE: Netguardian customers use @ng instead of @maxnet.
- Type in your password
- Click the right arrow to continue

- Select No for the PPP script
- Click the right arrow to continue

- Select No for the IP address
- Click the right arrow to continue

- For the DNS servers, please enter on seperate lines 210.55.105.217 and 210.55.230.2
- For the Domain name type maxnet.co.nz
- Click the right arrow to continue

- Type in your e-mail address ie. bobpond@maxnet.co.nz
- Type in your password in the password field
- Leave the default in place for quoting character
- Click the right arrow to continue

- For the e-mail account, type it as yourusername@pop3.maxnet.co.nz
- For the e-mail host, type smtp.maxnet.co.nz
- Click the right arrow to continue

- For the NNTP host type news.maxnet.co.nz
- Click the right arrow to continue

- Select No for the proxy server option
- Click the right arrow to continue

Click Go Ahead

You are now ready to connect to the internet.
