Configuring Windows 98 for dialup - Go to My Computer then Dial-Up Networking.
- Go to Make New Connection.

- Type Maxnet as the Name for the computer you are dialing.
- Click Next.

- Leave the Area code blank (nothing in there).
- Type the Telephone number as 0867 00006
- Select the Country code as New Zealand (64).
- Click Next.

Click Finish.

- Right mouse click on the icon that says Maxnet.
- Click on Properties.

- Click the tick-box beside Use area code and dialling properties to remove the tick.
- Click the Server Types tab up the top.

- Make sure the following options are ticked:
- Enable software compression
- TCP/IP.
- Click OK.

- Right mouse click on the icon that says Maxnet again.
- Click on Create Shortcut.
- You will get an error saying Windows can not create a shortcut here, would you like it on the desktop instead. Click Yes.

Please close down all windows and you will see a Shortcut to Maxnet icon which can now be used to connect to the Internet.
