Managing Identities with Outlook Express

Identities are useful if you have more than one person using Outlook Express. They allow you to share the same program but to keep your email separate from someone elses.

 

Step 1
Open Outlook Express.


Step 2
Click on File-> Identities -> Add New Identity

Step 3
Type in the name of the person that the new identity will belong to. In this example it's Bette Pond. NOTE: You can password protect the identity for privacy by selecting the Require Password option.
Click OK.

Step 4
Outlook Express will then ask you to switch to the new identity. Select Yes to continue.

Step 5
Outlook Express will then open the Internet Connection Wizard to get the email details for the new identity. If you are not sure on what details to enter click here for instructions on adding a new email account in Outlook Express .



Step 6
After entering in the details and creating the new mail account Outlook Express will open on the new Identity. You can see the name of the identity above the menu bar. In this example it reads "Bette Pond".

Step 7
All of the folders in this identity will be kept separate from every other identity in Outlook Express.

 

To switch between identities select File -> Switch Identity
