Mail Guardian
If your business is managing your own mail, you will no doubt face the major issue of how to manage SPAM and virus filtering.
SPAM (i.e. unsolicited email) and viruses (programs capable of damaging your computer) delivered by email are now the primary threat and problem to internet users worldwide.
Protection from SPAM and viruses is essential, particularly if your business is dependent on email on a day to day basis.
There are two types of email filtering available to you.
- Filtering of your email before your ISP delivers it to your PC (i.e. Maxnet’s Mail Guardian)
- Filtering of your email after the email has been delivered to your PC (i.e. a client-side solution)
The two main differences between our mail filtering service (Mail Guardian) and typical client-side anti-virus and SPAM software is speed and quality.
Speed
Most anti-virus software systems update every 14 days. You can configure it to update every 24 hours, however this can be annoying if the download runs while your staff are trying to get on with their work.
With Maxnet’s Mail Guardian service, we update every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Which means we’ll be protecting you well before your installed client-side software will start searching for updates.
Quality
We also specifically chose industry leader Sophos to provide the “engine” for Mail Guardian’s virus filtering due to their commitment to release virus updates within two hours of identification.
The majority of server-side mail filtering services offered by ISP’s typically provide a “one size fits all” mail filtering service.
Maxnet, on the other hand, recognises that each of our customer’s needs are likely to be unique. That’s why Mail Guardian provides you with access to a number of on-line management tools so you can customise the service to suit your specific requirements.
With Mail Guardian you benefit from the reliability and backup systems afforded by Maxnet’s mail systems. Our mail cluster is extremely reliable with a 99.97% uptime.
If however this system temporarily goes offline, your mail, along with other Maxnet mail, automatically queues on our backup mail systems hosted in the USA. Once the local mail cluster comes back online, your mail will immediately be delivered to our primary mail server and is available for distribution to your mailbox(es).
Mail Guardian has a 30 day free trial from the date of activation. Thereafter a $0.90 (GST incl) per mailbox per month fee applies. If you only wish to activate either the spam or virus filter, the ongoing fee is $0.70 (GST incl) per mailbox per month.
