Maxnet Business Connect WAN

Traditionally one of the barriers for small companies utilising a Wide Area Network (WAN) connection has been the expense of installing dedicated circuits. Now with Maxnet's Business Connect (MBC) you can use your existing internet connections to form a WAN to connect remote offices.

Not only does the technology allow for faster and more efficient connections through lower overheads on the circuit but you suddenly have far greater choice on how you route traffic.

What types of businesses would benefit most from a WAN solution?

Businesses that have:

  • Multiple branch offices
  • Employees working from remote locations i.e. from home
  • Suppliers who need to securely access company network resources

Why a Maxnet WAN solution?

Maxnet Business Connect is a cost-effective and efficient means of connecting your branch offices or remote operations together employing a WAN solution utilising Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology. Sometimes part of the solution includes a VPN.

MPLS technology is gradually replacing dedicated Frame Relay and ATM circuits to be better aligned to current and future technologies.

Maxnet offers a distinct advantage over the major telecommunication companies in that we are carrier neutral. This means that it doesn't necessarly matter to us what type of connection or last mile provider we deploy for each respective location. We choose the connection and carrier that best suits the customer's needs. The circuits are simply components of the overall solution.

For instance your respective branch offices could be using a TelstraClear Frame Relay circuit, Telecom ADSL connection and Vector Communications fibre option connection. We can combine all of these into a managed WAN for your company using MPLS technology.

MPLS technology enables you to use your existing Internet connections to create a WAN to connect remote offices. It means you lower the cost of installing expensive routers at your business premise and are able to add additional sites easily and cost-effectively as your company grows.

In terms of scalability and cost reductions, it's a far more attractive solution than traditional IPsec VPN's.

MPLS vs IPsec

Some of the key benefits of MPLS over traditional Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) VPN's are that it provides traffic isolation and differentiation without substantial overheads. With MPLS, you can use your existing internet connections to form a WAN to connect remote offices. It opens up a whole range of opportunities for Small to Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) to work more efficiently and at the same time reduce costs.

Another consideration is the additional security it provides. The MPLS technology in our network establishes IP separation between you and other customers at the IP layer, thus reserving your WAN service exclusively for your use.

This network imposed separation is private enough for most enterprises to use in its existing form and offers a level of privacy not dissimilar to that achieved with a Frame Relay service.

You can achieve additional privacy and security for your IP traffic by optionally encrypting your data before it is sent into the network.

Features and Benefits of a Maxnet Business Connect WAN

Better performance than an IPsec VPN:

IPsec tunnelling creates an "overhead" that slows performance. A Business Connect solution is far more efficient in the way it routes traffic.

Carrier Independent:

In most cases your branch offices can utilise their existing respective connections to the internet for use in the WAN, irrespective of whether or not several different last mile providers provide the circuits into respective sites.

More cost effective than dedicated circuits among offices:

Dedicated circuits among your branch offices are typically very expensive. Maxnet Business Connect allows you to use your existing internet connections to form a WAN among your branch offices, which means lower ongoing monthly connection costs.

Managed Solution:

It enables you to outsource the headaches and expense associated with managing a WAN using internal resources. All your locations can be managed by us remotely.

Adding additional sites is quicker, easier and costs less:

Adding an additional site to an IPsec VPN requires reconfiguration of the VPN at each site. However Maxnet Business Connect requires only one reconfiguration. Routers at each site do not need to be VPN-equipped so are less expensive. This means the incremental additional cost of adding a new site is significantly less than an IPsec VPN solution.

Centralise Firewall and Server Farm:

Rather than having to configure firewalls at each branch office, all offices connected via Maxnet Business Connect can share a firewall that is based in our Internet Data Centre. You can also colocate (host) your network services securely and safely in our dedicated colocation facility so they can be accessed by all branch offices. Our purpose built facility provides multiple redundant fibre connectivity, redundant backup power supplies, climate control and physical security for your servers.

Shared Internet Bandwidth:

All your offices utilising Maxnet Business Connect can share a pool of bandwidth, rather than having to individually buy bandwidth. This provides economies of scale for your business in its purchase of bandwidth. We can also provide priority for offices requiring greater amounts of bandwidth than your smaller offices.

Managed Quality of Service (QoS):

Business Connect enables us to provide QoS for mission critical services running across the WAN- for instance priority can be given to voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and other specific services, and policies set for the minimum amounts of bandwidth allocated to these services.

Security:

Maxnet Business Connect is a "Private" connection providing a dedicated tunnel over whatever communication medium that exists among sites in the network. Security is not an issue.
